The CAMC University was formed in 2004 to provide an integrated and coordinated approach for non-clinical training objectives throughout CAMC Health System. The CAMC University focus is to provide curriculum and organizational development activities that are aligned with CAMC’s annual and strategic goals. The organization will principally serve the leadership, management, medical staff and employees of CAMC Health System.

Jody Monk
Jody Monk is the Director of CAMC University and holds a B.S.N. degree in Nursing. In addition to her nursing degree, she has taken many courses in Human Resource Management. She is a DDI Certified Facilitator and has worked in management and training at CAMC for almost 40 years. During this time, Jody has been a staff nurse, charge nurse and nurse manager. She has also worked in staff development training nurses. Eventually, Jody switched her career focus from the clinical setting to education. While in education, her expertise became creating patient and staff materials and programs. She eventually took on the role as the Director of CAMC’s television studio and implemented satellite programs, closed circuit television, telemedicine and on line training. Jody’s time away from the office is spent enjoying the beach and other outdoor activities with her five grandchildren.

Christena Ross
Christena Ross is the Program Coordinator of CAMC University and holds a M.S. degree in Health Care Management. She is a DDI Certified Facilitator, Certified Crucial Conversations Facilitator, Six Sigma Green Belt, Baldrige Internal Expert and trained as a Bedside Project facilitator. Prior to joining the CAMC University leadership team, Christena worked as a Development Officer for CAMC Foundation. She has also worked as the Executive Director for a community hospital foundation and national non-profit healthcare organization. She is a graduate of LeadershipWV. Christena is a board member for Goodwill Industries of Kanawha Valley, Past President of the American Heart Association Board of Directors and involved with the CAMC Foundation Gala and the Sacred Heart Grade SchoolShare Your Heart Gala. She is also very active with her son, James, in school and sport activities.

Pam Brown
Pam Brown is the Education Specialist/Program Assistant of CAMC University and holds a Master of Science degree in Human Resource Management. Pam is a DDI Certified Facilitator, a Certified Crucial Conversations Facilitator and a member of the Society for Human Resource Management. Pam currently trains all new hire employees on CAMC Core Values and customer service. Pam ensures appropriate leadership development and computer training is offered to meet organizational needs. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband Dan, her two children, Derek and Jennifer, her granddaughter, Kiauna, and her dog, Baby! |

Pete Americo
Pete Americo is the Corporate Director of Rehabilitation Services at CAMC and holds a M.S. degree in Speech Pathology. He is a DDI Certified Facilitator and a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator. Pete has practiced speech pathology for nearly 40 years and has served 20 of that in an administrative capacity at CAMC. He has also served as Director/Coordinator of Cleft Palate Children’s Camps, University Affiliated Clinics and Educational Institutes. Pete has taught courses on improvement of verbal and non-verbal communication for both face to face and group interactions at local, state and regional levels. Pete’s favorite pastime is entertaining his two grandsons Austin and Tyler. |

Dianna Branham
Dianna Branham is the Nurse Manager for 4-South at CAMC Memorial and holds an A.D.N. in Nursing. Dianna has been a nurse manager for 26 of her 35 years as a CAMC employee. Dianna is a DDI Certified Facilitator. Some of her past and current activities are Retention Recognition Council Advisor, Budget and Resource member, Management R&R member, Management Leader in redesign projects, Tri-Divisional Health Unit Coordinator advisor, and New Nurse Manager mentor. Dianna was awarded the Heart & Soul Award in April 2006. In addition to these activities, Dianna was a Mountains of Challenge Facilitator. In her spare time, she likes to participate in the Health Ministry at her church, vacation at Hilton Head, attend WVU football games, and spend as much time as possible with her husband, 2 children Tara (Jason) Miller, and Todd and enjoy their dog an d Grand-dogs Ginger, Capone, Bella, and Cole !

Denise Burgess
Denise is the Director of Obstetrical Services at Women and Children’s Hospital. She is a Registered Nurse and holds a Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Counseling and is a National Board Certified Counselor. Since her return to CAMC in October of 2000 she has been actively involved in both community and system wide educational efforts. She has developed and presented workshops, in-services and educational sessions on topics of team building, parenting styles, conflict, domestic violence, workforce development, stress management and marital communications. She is a CREW, TeamSTEPPS and DDI Certified Facilitator. Denise serves as guest faculty for WVUPC educating third year medical students during their OB/GYN rotations on screening and intervention techniques for patients living in violent situations. Her free time is devoted to her family, enjoying music, reading and spending time on the beach at every opportunity.

Cindy Burkholder
Cindy Burkholder is the Human Resources Director for CAMC Memorial Hospital, CHERI, IHCPI and the Lighthouse Childcare and Development Center. She holds a M.S. degree in Labor and Industrial Relations and is a DDI Certified Facilitator. During her 15 years at CAMC, her human resources expertise has involved discipline management, employee handbooks, employee surveys, and performance management and employment litigation. Cindy also teaches human resources classes. During her free time, Cindy enjoys reading, following various sports and raising her son Blake and twin daughters Alva and Reagan. |

Donna Canterbury
Donna Canterbury is a Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt with CAMC. She holds a Master's degree in Business Administration and is a DDI Certified Facilitator. During her 19 years at CAMC Donna spent 15 years in Medical Imaging working as a technologist at all three of CAMC's hospitals. She was Clinical Operations Manager at Women and Children's, and then was Director of General and Women & Children's for 5 years. Representing CAMC and BMG Donna has given presentations on LEAN, 5S, and DFSS nationally. In her private time Donna enjoys spending time with her husband Travis and her son Pyper. |

George Farris
George Farris is currently serving as the Associate Administrator for Medicine Services for Memorial Hospital. He earned an MBA from West Virginia University, and holds certifications as a Six Sigma Green Belt and a DDI Certified Facilitator. He has also been trained in the LEAN Methodology under the guidance of the Breakthrough Management Group. George began his career in the Management Engineering department at CAMC in 1987 as a Project Coordinator, eventually moving to the Director of Management Engineering in 1998. He served as Program Director of a system wide organizational initiative to redesign operations from 1994 to 1998. Particular areas of interest to George include leadership development, performance improvement, and organizational ethics. Personal interests include woodworking, boating and exercising

Scott Lannan
Scott Lannan is a Human Resources Associate at CAMC Memorial . Scott holds two Master of Science degrees. One degree is in Industrial and Employee Relations and the other is in Health Care Administration. He is a certified DDI facilitator and Professional in Human Resources. During Scott's five years at CAMC, he has been responsible for such areas as employee relations, policy administration, employment practices, benefit administration, and employee training/development. In his spare time, Scott enjoys outdoor activities. |

Paula Harless
Paula Harless is a CAMC Nurse Manager for the Gynecology/Oncology Unit at CAMC Women and Children’s Hospital. She completed her Master of Health Administration degree in 2006 and is a DDI Certified Facilitator. Paula has worked on the gynecology unit for 32 years as a staff nurse, charge nurse, clinical management coordinator and nurse manager. When working as a charge nurse and clinical management coordinator she was responsible for all staff education on her unit. She is a CAMC Internal Malcolm Baldrige Expert and a six Sigma Green Belt. Paula is actively involved in the Transforming Care Together (TCT) initiative at Women and Children’s Hospital, along with helping to facilitate the education classes for TCT for all three hospitals. When she isn’t working, Paula enjoys being with her grandson, gardening, cross-stitch, and going to the beach. |

Ed Haver
Ed is the Director of the Cardiac Rehabilitation Department and the Dr. Dean Ornish Program for Reversing Heart Disease at CAMC Memorial Hospital where he works with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare providers. Prior to coming to CAMC 18 years ago he directed a similar program at a hospital in the Napa Valley, California for 12 years. Ed holds a M.A. degree in Exercise Physiology from the University of California, Davis and is a DDI Certified Facilitator and a Six Sigma Green Belt. He has worked in the field of cardiac rehab for over 38 years. He enjoys speaking to numerous community groups on topics related to health. He and his wife, Ginny, use their vacation time to visit their daughters -- Rebecca in Honduras and Sarah in South Africa.

Elizabeth Pellegrin
Elizabeth Pellegrin has experience in the supervision of advertising, marketing research, public relations and governmental affairs in the United States and abroad. Having worked in Washington, D.C., Germany and France with clients in the fields of health care, education, banking and business development, she brings a broad background in advertising and communications. Ms. Pellegrin has extensive experience in senior management as well as strategic planning, advertising, public relations, market research, radio and television. In 2001, Pellegrin was recognized by the West Virginia Executive Magazine as a “Young Gun” for her leadership and strategic skills.
She is active in the community and currently serves on the YWCA Board of Directors, the Wayfinding Commission for the City of Charleston and the Marketing Committee for the Clay Center for the Arts and Sciences. In addition, Ms. Pellegrin has been a guest speaker for press conventions, media groups and universities and is a DDI Certified Facilitator. |

Beverly Thornton
Beverly Withrow-Thornton is an Education Specialist with the CAMC Institute and holds a B.A. degree in Leadership, Organizational Development and HR Management and an A.D. in Nursing. She is a DDI Certified Facilitator and serves as the chairperson for the CAMC Multidisciplinary Patient and Family Education Council. During Bev's 25 years at CAMC, she co-authored "The Effect of Instructional Media on Learner Motivation", and opened a consumer health information center to improve access of healthcare information to the public. As an Education Specialist, her primary focus is on community health and patient and family education. Bev has two daughters, Kara, and Krista, and one son, Dustin. In her spare time, Bev enjoys Irish dancing, church activities, and spending time with her husband and children.

Kristi Snyder
Kristi is the Corporate Director for Human Resource. Kristi has responsibilities for the HR functions at General and Women and Children’s Hospital and the Employment Center. She holds a M.S. degree in Industrial Relations and is certified as a DDI Facilitator, Professional in Human Resources (PHR) and Crucial Conversations Facilitator. Kristi’s 14 years with CAMC have been filled with a variety of human resource related activities such as new employee orientation, conflict management, performance management and providing manager and employee education. She also serves as a TJC resource related to Human Resources standards. In her private time, Kristi enjoys spending time with her husband, Jim, 3 sons - Cole, Seth, and Owen, and their dog, Yankee. |

Andrew Weber
Andrew Weber is currently serving in the role of VP/Administrator for Women and Children’s Hospital. He earned an MBA from Xavier University, is a graduate of the Leadership Charleston Program, and holds certifications as a Six Sigma Black Belt and a DDI Certified Facilitator. Andrew began his career in the profession of Human Resources at CAMC. After a couple of years in HR, he ventured into the world of operations. Over the last nine years, Andrew has completed an administrative fellowship, served as Director of the CAMC Vascular Center of Excellence and Associate Administrator at both Women and Children’s and General Hospitals. Particular areas of interest to Andrew include patient satisfaction, leader coaching and mentoring, and development of new services. During his free time, Andrew enjoys spending time with his wife and their daughter, Molly. He also enjoys playing soccer and water skiing |
