A Multidisciplinary Approach to the Care of the Severely Septic Patient

 

Objectives:

Module 1: Statistics

  1. State the impact of severe sepsis
  2. Discuss the importance of implementing a sepsis program

Module 2: Early Diagnosis

  1. Explain the importance of early recognition and diagnosis
  2. Define sepsis, severe sepsis and septic shock
  3. Illustrate the importance of the Severe Sepsis Screening Worksheet

Module 3: Early Goal-Directed Therapy

  1. Discuss the impact of Early Goal-Directed Therapy on the care of patients with severe sepsis;
  2. Identify the components of Early Goal-Directed Therapy;
  3. State when to initiate Early Goal-Directed Therapy; and to Identify clinical endpoints (goals) of resuscitation

Module 4: 24-Hour Management Bundle

  1. Discuss the impact of 24-Hour Management Bundle
  2. Identify the components of the 24-Hour Management Bundle
  3. State when to initiate the 24-Hour Management Bundle
