The West Virginia Asthma Education and Prevention Program, a part of the Department of Health and Human Resources’ Bureau for Public Health and the state’s Health Statistics Center have worked with the West Virginia Coalition to maintain a surveillance system for tracking asthma care. The goal was to develop and implement a comprehensive statewide plan to reduce the burden of asthma to the state.
This program, “Asthma Education for Primary Care Providers” is intended to serve as an educational resource for all health care providers who treat persons with asthma. The topics were selected because they represent some of the “best practices” for asthma management across the age span.
